Two articles recently peaked my interest in the international job market.  Young Americans Going to China for Jobs published by the HuffingtonPost and Moving Overseas for Work by Andrew Kucheriavy were very thought provoking.  As unemployment continues to rise in the United States - is it time for Americans to consider pursuing jobs abroad?  In a global economy, we may need to consider international jobs in our overall job search strategy.  How do you know if an international job is right for you? Only you can answer that question.  Evaluate your current circumstances and goals.  If the international job market seems realistic, the next step is the job search.  Here are a few websites that can help:

1.  JobHunt.Org International -JobHunt.Org is a highly respected job search site.   The international job section offers several robust search options including reviewing job posts by country, government or through external links.  The JobHunt.Org website also contains numerous job-related articles, postings and career research capabilities.  Follow JobHunt.Org on Twitter to stay up-to-date on job related information.

2.  The Riley Guide - The Riley Guide offers multiple job listings by country or regions.  Additional features include articles on resumes, career research and living abroad.  Follow the Riley Guide on Twitter or Facebook for updates and international job news.

3.  OverseasJobs.Com - This site belongs to the About.Com network.  Jobseekers can search by keyword, location or international top jobs.  Other search options including an Advanced Overseas Job Search feature helps narrow down results to those jobs you are really interested in.

4.  USAJOBS - The official employment site of the Office of Personnel Management.  Jobseekers can search this database for U.S. federal jobs in overseas locations. Review and read each international job posting carefully and follow the application instructions.

5.  Department of Defense, Civilian Job Opportunity links -  The Department of Defense provides several links to its civilian job listings on this site.  Jobseekers can search for Department of Defense jobs in overseas locations.

The key to success in the international job market is defining your career goals and matching those goals to the right opportunity.Whether you work for the U.S. Government, a foreign government or private corporation, an international job may be the path to career advancement and success.  International jobs also create unique opportunities to live and learn about others in the global community.
